Provincial Tree of Quebec, Yellow Birch Botanical Art Print
Bouleau Jaune (Yellow Birch) is the official provincial tree of Québec
Beautiful Fact - Yellow Birch gets its name not from its autumn leaves, but from the golden-yellow hue of its bark—often seen curling in thin, papery strips. Rich in oils, the bark is highly flammable and can be used as a natural fire starter, even when wet. Though the tree can be tapped like a sugar maple, its sap is less sweet and is more often used for glazes or herbal infusions than syrup.
Leaves - The leaves are oval-shaped, slightly serrated, and deep yellowish-green. They typically grow to a length of 8 to 11 cm and shift to bright yellow in the fall, creating one of Québec’s most iconic seasonal scenes.
