Ontario Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) is native to Europe, Western Asia, and locally in northwest Africa.

Beautiful Fact - Early to blossom, blackthorn trees exhibit white fluffy snowball-looking flowers in early spring that have adorable scents.

Fruits - Best known for their blue-black, dark coloured fruits used to make a favourite sloe gin, various jams,…, or a botanical ink!

Sumac Berries Ink Details -

Blackthorn Berries are mostly from Cedarvale Park in Toronto. All of my inks are carefully handmade in small batches for use in my own nature journal and art practice. They had been simmered for hours to ensure deep colour and quality. They are perfect for complimenting watercolours or line drawings.

  • 1 oz (30 ml) ink , will send you in a unique old ink bottle

  • The colour is sap green.

  • Natural inks are best used with brushes and dip pens and are not recommended for fountain pens.

  • It is recommended that the inks be kept out of direct sunlight and shaken before use.
