Greetings from Alberta

CA$7.00

Lodgepole Pine is the official provincial tree of Alberta.

Beautiful Fact - Lodgepole Pine has serotinous cones that must be exposed to high temperatures in order to open and release seeds. This is why it is referred to as a “fire dependent” species as it requires wildfires to maintain a healthy population. Another adaptation of the Lodgepole is the thin bark that minimizes the tree’s defence against fire thus further insures its ability to regenerate and maintain its place in the forest habitat.

Leaves - The leaves are needle-like, paired and often twisted, and 3-7 cm long.
