White Birch is the official provincial tree of Saskatchewan
Beautiful Fact - The treeβs trunk is covered in thin, smooth white bark that is surprisingly strong and pliable. First Nations peoples who have used it for centuries as a covering for canoes prized these qualities.
The leaves and bark also have a wide range of medicinal uses from skin care to pain relief.
Leaves - The double serrated leaves are egg- or triangle-shaped and grow to a length of up to 10 cm. They are dull dark green above and pale yellow-green below, turning light yellow in the fall.
